We're looking for a proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to join our East West Rail team based in St. Neots, Cambridgeshire. In this role you'll lead and support safety, health and environmental performance across the entire East West Rail route. This role will involve regular travel to operational sites throughout the route so a full driving licence is essential.

Location: East West Rail route from Oxford through Milton Keynes and Bedford to Cambridge, operating primarily from our Kepple House Office, St. Neots,
Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us
Salary: £65,000 - £75,000 per year + private healthcare + £6.7k annual car allowance + excellent benefits

Kier Transportation is seeking a proactive Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager to As part of the Kier team supporting EWR in undertaking a programme of non-intrusive and intrusive surveys to support the design and Environmental Impact Assessment, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance are achieved and maintained across all operations. This role will involve regular travel to operational sites throughout the route.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager supporting East West Rail, this role is central to delivering a programme of both non-intrusive and intrusive surveys that enable design development and Environmental Impact Assessments. It's an opportunity to make a real impact by embedding a strong health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring the highest standards are consistently achieved and maintained across all activities.

Your day to day will include:

* Leading all Health, Safety and Wellbeing activities across the route, ensuring compliance with legal, client and Kier Group standards
* Conducting regular site, depot and office inspections and audits to verify compliance and promote a culture of continual learning
* Leading investigations into incidents, near misses and unsafe acts or conditions, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented
* Coaching, mentoring and supporting operational teams and supply chain partners to embed best practice and strengthen safety culture
* Analysing and reporting safety, health and environmental performance data, contributing to monthly reports and supporting data-driven decision-making

What are we looking for?

This Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager role could be a great fit if:

* A recognised Health & Safety qualification (Diploma or equivalent) is held, alongside IOSH membership, with CMIOSH preferred
* A strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation is in place, including experience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
* Knowledge of temporary traffic management and premises or facilities management has been gained in a similar environment
* Confidence in working independently while delivering key objectives and performing well in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting is demonstrated
* A proactive, people-focused approach is taken, with the ability to recognise others' needs and positively influence behaviours across teams
