Overview
The Mechanical Shift Technician will work a 12‑hour shift (2 days, 2 nights & 4 off) over an 8‑week rolling rota. Hours are 6:00 am to 6:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. The role is based in Doncaster at a heavy industrial processing plant, which may involve dust and machinery – it is not a spotless environment.
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays (pro‑rated). Pension: company contributions min 7% up to 10%. Extras: employee assistance program, free parking, bus route, near train station. The business is expanding, offering excellent opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Operate within a multi‑skilled team to perform day‑to‑day maintenance of all industrial plant and machinery.
* Install and maintain new and existing equipment, ensuring minimal production disruption.
* Carry out hands‑on mechanical engineering routines in accordance with planned preventive maintenance programmes and emergency breakdowns.
* Conduct risk assessments and comply with all health and safety procedures.
* Assist other mechanical/operational departments when required.
Qualifications
* Time‑served apprenticeship or recognised Mechanical Engineering certification/qualification.
* Fabrication skills and previous experience within a process/factory environment.
* Refrigeration experience is advantageous.
* Ability to work independently, be proactive, and produce appropriate solutions to minimise disruption.
* Calm and methodical approach, ability to work under pressure and within time constraints.
