About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, solutions-focused Project Manager to take ownership of the full lifecycle delivery of mechanical projects within the water industry. This is a hands-on, site-based role, working closely with mechanical fitters, supervisors, subcontractors, and clients to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and commercially.
Alongside this, we are also open to applications from Project Engineers who are ready to step up or who prefer a more technically focused role while still managing smaller projects independently.
Whether you join as a Project Manager or Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in taking projects from conception through to completion, supporting design, procurement, cost control, and site delivery, while upholding the highest standards of health, safety, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and deliver mechanical engineering projects from tender through to handover
Provide technical and commercial input to ensure efficient project delivery
Prepare and review project documentation, including RAMS, programmes, and risk registers
Supervise and support site teams, including mechanical fitters and subcontractors
Assist with or lead design reviews and procurement of materials and services
Prepare tenders, quotations, and project proposals
Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and client communications
Ensure full compliance with H&S regulations, including CDM requirements
Conduct site inspections and promote continuous HSE improvements
Prepare handover documentation, including O&M manuals and H&S files
About You
Mechanical Engineering qualification (essential)
Experience delivering mechanical or engineering projects, ideally within the water industry
Background in pumps, fabrication, steelwork, or mechanical engineering (preferred)
Strong site-based experience with a safety-first mindset
Able to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with site teams and clients
Commercially aware with good problem-solving skills
Full UK driving licence (essential)
Project Engineers with strong technical and site experience who are keen to develop their project management responsibilities are strongly encouraged to apply
