The position supports complex HVAC diagnostics, coordinates BAS programming and system optimization, and provides supervisory oversight of evening and weekend duty crews while offering technical leadership across all shifts.The position supports campus-wide operations by coordinating event-driven HVAC programming, leading improvements to commissioning and system optimization processes, and supporting staff training across shifts. The role also serves as backup to the Building Mechanics Supervisor to ensure operational continuity and consistent technical support. This position is critical to maintaining reliable, safe, and efficient building systems that support academic, residential, administrative, and event functions across campus.**Authority and Accountability**This position reports to the Assistant Director of Building Trades / Physical Plant Operations. The role provides direct technical oversight of the BAS function and supervisory oversight of evening and weekend duty crews. The position exercises operational authority related to HVAC systems, BAS programming coordination, staff training, and after-hours response. Budgetary authority is consistent with other Manager, Technical Trades roles.**Required/Minimum Qualifications*** Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in HVAC systems, building automation, or facilities technical operations.* Demonstrated experience performing complex HVAC diagnostics and system troubleshooting.* Supervisory or lead experience overseeing technical staff or duty crews.* Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems and HVAC integration.* Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices.* Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and system documentation.* Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.* Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems and standard office software.* Certification as a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) or similar credential.* Advanced training or certification related to HVAC systems or BAS platforms.* Experience supporting commissioning and system optimization efforts in higher education or institutional settings.**Preferred Qualifications*** Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.**Additional Job Information:**The position is a full-time, exempt, state role with comprehensive benefits.Priority will be given to applicants who apply by March 23, 2026.
