Our teams thrive in an environment where innovation, collaboration, and curiosity drive everything we do. If you want to help shape the future of technology and build systems that make a real‑world impact, you’ll feel right at home here.
Purpose of the Position
We’re looking for a Principal Engineer (Electrical & Controls) to play a pivotal role in the development of complex, production ready systems for our customers. This is a senior technical leadership position, ideal for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, shaping early stage concepts, and guiding teams through ambiguity.
You’ll act as the technical authority for electrical and control systems across a diverse range of projects. From defining architectures and managing technical risk to influencing client direction, you’ll help ensure our solutions are robust, scalable, and commercially effective.
This is a hands on, high impact role where your judgement, experience, and ability to bring clarity will directly shape the success of our most ambitious programmes.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead electrical and controls decision making across projects, acting as the senior technical authority.
* Define architectures, design strategies, and engineering approaches appropriate to each stage of development.
* Work closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and project teams to deliver integrated, production ready systems.
* Identify and mitigate technical risks early, especially in projects with evolving requirements or uncertainty.
* Support bids, feasibility studies, and early stage concept development with clear technical insight.
* Engage confidently with clients, suppliers, and partners as a senior technical representative of Tharsus.
* Coach and mentor engineers, promoting strong engineering practice and high quality technical reasoning.
* Contribute to continuous improvement across tools, standards, and ways of working.
What You’ll Bring
Essential
* A Degree or HND in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or similar discipline).
* Significant experience in a senior or lead engineering role with technical authority.
* Proven experience delivering complex electrical, electronic, or embedded systems.
* Strong understanding of system level design, integration, and risk management.
* Experience working across multiple industries or technology domains.
Desirable
* Experience in automation, robotics, machinery, or capital equipment.
* Exposure to regulated or safety critical environments.
* Experience shaping early‑stage concepts and engaging directly with clients.
Who You Are
* A confident technical leader with sound engineering judgement.
* Comfortable operating in ambiguity and bringing clarity to complex problems.
* Pragmatic, commercially aware, and solutions focused.
* An excellent communicator who can explain complex ideas clearly.
* Collaborative, organised, and able to balance multiple technical demands.
* Curious, motivated to learn, and keen to share knowledge with others.
* Willing to travel occasionally for on‑site work.
If you want to work on cutting edge technology, influence major engineering decisions, and help shape the future of automation, we’d love to hear from you.
