Teacher – Alternative Provision / Personalised Intervention Location: South Shields Rate: £120–£220 per day Contract: Temporary / Long-term opportunities available Phase: Primary or Secondary (dependent on experience) About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join a specialist alternative education setting in South Shields, supporting pupils who have struggled to engage in mainstream education. This provision delivers personalised learning programmes for children and young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs, offering a nurturing, structured environment that promotes confidence, wellbeing and academic progress. This role is ideal for a teacher who thrives on building strong relationships, adapting the curriculum, and making a meaningful difference to pupils who need a different approach to learning. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual pupil needs. Support pupils working towards personalised academic outcomes and recognised qualifications. Create a calm, consistent and supportive classroom environment. Implement positive behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation support. Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and leadership teams. Track pupil progress and contribute to reviews and support plans. Promote pupils’ personal development, resilience and readiness for next steps. Skills & Experience Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential. Experience working with pupils with SEMH, behavioural needs, or within alternative provision / PRU settings is highly desirable. Strong behaviour management skills with a nurturing, trauma-informed approach. Flexible, patient and emotionally resilient. Ability to adapt teaching styles to meet a wide range of learning needs.
