Technical Lead – ILS & Technical Publications Location: Primarily remote, with occasional travel to Havant and Yeovil (approx. once per month). Rare travel to Culdrose or Crawley. Focus: 70% Technical Publications | 30% Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Experience Required: 10 years (5 in aerospace) About the Role We are seeking an experienced and driven Technical Lead – ILS & Technical Publications to provide leadership and technical guidance to a team delivering engineering support for Lockheed Martin UK’s Rotary and Mission Systems (LM RMS) programmes, primarily within the Merlin portfolio. This is a dual-role position, combining leadership in technical publications and ILS activities. While there are no direct reports, you will serve as the senior technical point of contact—responsible for coordinating workloads, responding to technical queries, and supporting the ILS manager in delivering on programme objectives. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate workstreams across the ILS and Technical Publications teams. Develop and maintain team schedules and ensure timely delivery of outputs. Act as the primary technical liaison for management, customers, vendors, and partners. Oversee the production of high-quality technical publications to military and commercial standards. Review and validate customer and vendor publications to ensure accuracy and compliance. Drive continuous improvement across ILS and technical publication processes. Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to support ILS programme leads. Manage CIETP updates, amendments, and corrections (F765s), and liaise with vendors as needed. Ensure timely delivery of ILS outputs, including Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) reports. Conduct assurance reviews of Aircrew and Maintainer data modules. Ensure compliance with all legislative, company, and departmental standards. What We’re Looking For: Experience: Minimum of 10 years in a relevant technical field, with at least 5 years in the aerospace sector. Leadership: Proven team lead experience in a defence or high-reliability environment. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of ILS disciplines and their interdependencies. Experience in authoring technical manuals such as CMMs, Air Publications, or Books of Reference. Skilled in creating Data Modules for Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETPs). Familiarity with Def Stan 00-60/600 and the Defence Logistics Framework (DLF). Key Attributes Confident and competent technical communicator with strong verbal and written skills. Able to distil complex technical issues and think laterally to solve problems. Calm and composed under pressure; able to separate emotion from decision-making. Energetic, self-starting, and passionate about technology and innovation. Willing and able to travel occasionally on short notice as required.
