Streamline Search is recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established company with nearly 50 years of experience in the Freight and Logistics industry. Located in Tilbury, at the heart of the Southeast shipping industry, they handle import and export cargo via multimodal means - Air, Sea, Road & Rail.
Customs Coordinator - Job Responsibilities
1. Arrange import clearances for key clients, ensuring prompt processing to maintain high service levels.
2. Communicate with customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors to gather and provide information for customs clearances, ensuring compliance with HMRC guidelines.
3. Prepare and review import documentation such as bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
4. Submit necessary documents accurately and timely to customs authorities and relevant bodies.
5. Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and transport companies to facilitate efficient import operations.
6. Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to gather required documentation and information.
7. Classify imported goods correctly under tariff headings.
8. Ensure proper valuation of goods and correct application of duties, taxes, and fees.
9. Provide guidance and training to internal teams on import procedures and customs requirements.
10. Support the development and implementation of import policies and procedures.
Customs Coordinator - Job Requirements
1. Minimum two years of successful experience working for a small to medium-sized freight forwarder.
2. Experience with processing and completing entries using CDS, including Deep Sea Ocean freight or European road freight clearances.
3. Confidence in navigating HMRC's online tariffs and a good understanding of customs commodity codes and procedures.
4. Knowledge of FTA, Origin, and Preference.
5. Experience with CNS and Destin8; CCS-UK experience is a plus but not essential.
