This role is well-suited to a creative and dedicated teacher who enjoys fostering a love for literature and language, while helping students develop strong analytical and communication skills.
The Role
As an English Teacher, you will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5, depending on experience). You will play a key role in supporting students to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons that engage and challenge learners
* Teach a broad curriculum including reading, writing, and spoken language skills
* Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all pupils, ensuring inclusive practice
* Assess, track, and monitor student progress, providing clear feedback
* Prepare students for GCSE examinations (and A-Level where applicable)
* Create a positive and focused classroom environment conducive to learning
* Support students in developing critical thinking and analytical skills
* Contribute to the wider life of the school, including enrichment activities
* Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department
* Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
Requirements
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
* Degree in English or a related subject
* Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and KS4 minimum)
* Strong curriculum knowledge and understanding of assessment frameworks
* Excellent classroom management skills
* Passion for English and a commitment to student achievement
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Ability to commute to Great Missenden and work full-time from September
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Experience teaching KS5 (A-Level English)
* Track record of strong student outcomes
* Ability to contribute to curriculum development
* Experience supporting a range of abilities, including SEN and EAL pupils
