The regional office is based near Southampton, covering Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, and Surrey. They focus on projects in education, public sector, leisure, and commercial markets, with a mix of negotiated and framework opportunities. Turnover for 2025 and 2026 is secured, with plans for 2027/28 nearly finalized. They are targeting high-profile local developments ranging from GBP 25 million to GBP 90 million, using JCT and NEC contracts.
The Design Manager role involves early involvement during tender and bid stages, collaborating with estimating and commercial teams to analyze schemes, identify opportunities and issues, and contribute detailed input for tender packages. You will manage information flow between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams, leading on framework schemes.
You will oversee schemes from tender and bid through to site construction, managing design implementation on-site alongside project managers, site teams, and subcontractors. Responsibilities include RFIs, change management, CDM regulations, and project handover and commissioning.
Ideal candidates will have experience working for a Tier 1 or large regional contractor on schemes above GBP 10 million, with experience in D&B projects and framework negotiations. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify opportunities and issues are essential.
