Technical Lead – Emerging Tech & Innovation

Role Overview:
* Location: Farnborough (Hybrid) 3 days a week in the office
* Package: £75,000 (Negotiable) + bonus + full benefits
* Industry: Defence, National Security, Emerging Technology
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Leading multidisciplinary engineering teams through rapid prototyping and experimental builds
* Researching emerging technologies and trends, turning insights into actionable recommendations
* Delivering demos, proof of concepts, and technical briefings to internal and external stakeholders
* Supporting business development with technical expertise, white papers, and customer engagement
* Shaping the strategic roadmap for innovation, working closely with leadership to align on goals
* Managing the SIG lab — overseeing its design, development and ongoing evolution
* Driving technical decision-making around architecture, tooling and platform choices
* Representing the organisation in technical conversations with partners and academia
* Ensuring security is embedded across the software development lifecycle
Main Skills Needed:
* Strong experience in engineering roles (software, infrastructure, platform, SRE, or architecture)
* Deep understanding of modern tools, technologies and frameworks
* Strong track record leading technical teams in fast-paced or exploratory environments
* Comfortable working with incomplete requirements and changing priorities
* Confident communicator with experience influencing technical and non-technical audiences
* Proficient in identifying risks, assumptions, dependencies and opportunities
* Experience in Defence/National Security or secure environments is a bonus
* Familiarity with containers, orchestration, Linux admin and cloud architecture is desirable
