As an Engineer & Site Supervisor at OCU Group in Lerwick, you will help shape the physical layout of construction works while guiding subcontractor teams to work safely, compliantly, and collaboratively. You will work as a member of the principal contractors’ project management team, ensuring that all subcontractors meet high standards in health, safety, quality, and environmental management — with minimal inconvenience to the local community.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct precise measurements and set out structures using total stations, GPS, and levelling instruments
* Interpret construction drawings and mark reference points and benchmarks
* Inspect works for accuracy and help resolve any discrepancies
* Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to align site execution with design intent
* Maintain records of survey data and layout activities
* Supervise subcontractor teams, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance
* Conduct site inductions and support audits and incident investigations
* Promote a positive, safety‑first culture on site
* Help ensure environmental standards are met with minimal inconvenience to the local community
What You’ll Bring
* Ideally you are studying towards a degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or a similar field
* A keen interest in construction, surveying, and site management
* Willingness to learn and develop further into a supervisory role
* Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
* Attention to detail and a commitment to doing things right
* A full UK driving licence
