Meat & Social is seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to assist our kitchen operations at our Wembley Park location. This is an exciting opportunity to join a concept that celebrates premium meats, exceptional grilling techniques, and culinary craftsmanship. You'll work alongside our Head Chef and in-house Master Butcher, further developing your butchery skills while shaping a menu that reflects quality, creativity, and bold flavour.
Job Description:
The Sous Chef at Meat & Social will act as the second-in-command in the kitchen, supporting the Head Chef in leading back-of-house operations. This role requires strong culinary expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to step up and take charge in the Head Chef's absence. The Sous Chef will oversee day-to-day kitchen activities, ensuring smooth service, high-quality dishes, and adherence to food safety standards. Working closely with the Head Chef and in-house Master Butcher, the Sous Chef will also contribute to menu development and ensure consistent training and development of the kitchen team.
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Operations & Service:
* Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food preparation, presentation, and service.
* Lead kitchen service during busy periods, coordinating sections to ensure efficiency.
* Step into the role of Head Chef when required, ensuring continuity of standards and leadership.
* Support the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Menu Development & Butchery Support:
* Collaborate with the Head Chef and Master Butcher on menu design, specials, and seasonal dishes.
* Learn and apply butchery techniques, supporting knowledge transfer across the team.
* Monitor dish performance and provide input on menu improvements.
Team Management & Training:
* Supervise and support Chef de Parties, Commis Chefs, and other BOH staff.
* Assist in recruiting, training, and developing new team members.
* Foster a positive and motivated kitchen environment, promoting teamwork and accountability.
* Conduct regular performance feedback sessions with junior chefs.
Stock & Financial Management:
* Support accurate stock management and ordering processes.
* Monitor food costs and work with the Head Chef to minimise waste.
* Ensure efficient use of resources while maintaining premium quality.
Health, Safety & Hygiene:
* Ensure compliance with all food hygiene and safety regulations, including allergen management and HACCP protocols.
* Conduct regular checks to maintain cleanliness and organisation across all kitchen areas.
* Actively promote and uphold health and safety practices among the kitchen team.
Collaboration & Communication:
* Work closely with FOH managers and staff to ensure seamless coordination of service.
* Communicate effectively with the Head Chef regarding performance, challenges, and operational needs.
Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.

Pay: £30,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
