Position
A Domestic Supervisor based at Ailsa Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.
Hours
As and When Required hours per week. From 1 April 2026, full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro‑rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
What You Will Do
The successful applicant will be responsible for work allocation, daily supervision, training and welfare of staff within the area. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and basic computing skills are essential. Ability to work individually and as part of a team is required. Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of NHS standards and procedures would be advantageous. Flexibility on shift and willingness to cover periods of leave are essential.
Knowledge, Training and/or Experience Required
Provide a wide range of Domestic Services supporting Clinical Services in line with NHS Scotland National Cleaning Services Specification to fulfil Healthcare Environment Inspectorate Standards and meet Facilities Monitoring Tool Targets. Experience with industrial cleaning equipment or working within a healthcare setting is advantageous, but full training will be given. Initiative, teamwork and communication skills are essential.
Required to undertake departmental job training, including operation of equipment and safe use of cleaning materials, and must be proficient in the following:
* Safe Systems of Work/Work Schedules
* Departmental Risk Assessments (COSHH, General, Moving and Handling)
* Codes of Practice/Infection Control Guidelines
* Correct and economical use of materials and equipment
* Use of PPE
* Waste Management
* Linen Bagging Policy
* Security Procedures
* Datix
* Job Shadowing (usually first week)
* Domestic Services Core Value Statement
* Organisational Policies
* Caldicott Guidelines (confidentiality)
