SEND Teaching Assistant
* Hourly Rate: £14.18 - £15.84
* Location: Blackpool
* Job Type: 08.30-15.30 Monday - Friday, Term Time Only
* Start Date: September
We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a September start, to work 1:1 with a child who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is in Year 2. This role requires a compassionate individual who has prior experience working with children who have autism, ideally within Key Stage 1. There may also be a requirement to work within the school breakfast club but is to be confirmed.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Provide tailored support to a child with ASD, ensuring they engage effectively in lessons and school activities.
* Work closely with the classroom teacher to implement educational and behavioural strategies that support the child’s learning and social development.
* Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Monitor and support the child’s progress, adapting approaches as needed to suit their educational and emotional needs.
* Facilitate communication between the child, teachers, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to the child’s education and wellbeing.
* Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for the child.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Proven experience working with children who have Autism, essential.
* Experience within KS1 is preferred but not mandatory.
* Strong understanding of the needs and educational strategies for children with ASD.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A patient, caring, and professional approach to supporting learning.
