Are you an experienced geo-environmental engineer ready to lead, mentor, and make a real impact? Paddock Geo Engineering Ltd (PGE) is seeking a driven and technically exceptional Principal to Associate-Level Geo-Environmental Engineer to join our growing team in Milton Keynes.
We’re a friendly, high-performing consultancy working on diverse ground engineering and site investigation projects across the South of England, Wales, and the Midlands. Our clients range from local authorities and commercial developers to small and medium scale housebuilders and mineral extraction companies, giving you exposure to a broad and rewarding portfolio.
This is a high-impact role where you’ll lead technical delivery, mentor a skilled team, and contribute strategically to the success of our projects and business.
The Role:
* Acting as a deputy for the Managing Director
* Leading and mentoring a team of ~6+ engineers and technicians
* Demonstrating high technical competence in geo-environmental, geotechnical and site investigation work
* Managing projects from inception to completion, including client liaison and cost control
* Conducting Contaminated Land Risk Assessments (Stage 1–3)
* Delivering combined geo-environmental and geotechnical site investigations
* Scheduling appropriate laboratory testing (contamination, waste classification, geotechnical)
* Designing and validating remediation schemes
* Writing high-quality interpretative geo-environmental and geotechnical reports
* Performing infiltration testing in accordance with current standards
* Upholding and promoting best-in-class HSEQ practices
A through technical understanding of contaminated land legislation and consultancy would be required. As would be an understanding of interpretative geotechnical report writing. A working understanding of the EIA process and reporting advantageous.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 15 years’ experience in ground investigation and geo-environmental consultancy
* Degree-qualified in a relevant discipline (Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering); a related Master’s degree is advantageous
* Chartered (or close to) with a relevant professional body (e.g., CIWEM, IEMA, GeolSoc, ICE)
* Strong understanding of contaminated land legislation, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements
* Competent in writing interpretative geotechnical reports
* Familiarity with the EIA process and environmental planning considerations is beneficial
* Proven experience in mentoring junior staff and managing technical teams
* Full clean UK driving licence
