Job Description
The Service Manager will oversee the patient catering function, ensuring smooth operations across all ward kitchens. This includes managing staff, planning rotas, and ensuring compliance with food safety and health regulations. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and staff training.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of host/hostess staff across 21 ward kitchens.
- Supervise three shift supervisors per 12-hour shift.
- Ensure smooth and efficient service delivery every day of the week.
- Follow all patient menus, including eight special diet menus.
- Plan rotas and shifts to meet service demands.
- Train staff to achieve 95%+ compliance in required areas.
- Monitor and manage staff sickness and absence levels.
- Plan and deliver training sessions and toolbox talks.
- Ensure correct use of equipment and report any breakages.
Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing catering or hospitality teams.
- Knowledge and understanding of food safety and health & safety regulations.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Ability to plan and manage rotas effectively.
- Skilled in staff training and development.
- Ability to monitor performance and maintain high service standards.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, patient-focused environment.
