Job Description:
This is a UK based contract and as such, you are required to have the Right to Work in the UK. Evidence of your Right to Work will be checked prior to interview.
3-year fixed term contract.
This is a remarkable opportunity to work with an incredibly dedicated team at WWF Cymru, and use your experience in multi-channel communications and knowledge of Wales (with an interest in Pembrokeshire in particular) to help put nature at the top of the political and media agenda in Wales and secure better decisions for our environment.
WWF Cymru is currently pursuing a multi-year work programme to address the ‘Triple Challenge’ in Wales: tackling climate change, reversing the loss of nature, and transitioning to a sustainable food system. The years ahead are critical for engaging politics and the public in Wales on this triple challenge. As Communications Manager, you will focus on delivering project-based national and local communications as part of a small team based in Cymru. You’ll play a key role in raising the profile of both the Regenerative Ocean Farming and Pembrokeshire Wholescapes programmes, locally and nationally.
As Communications Manager, you will develop and deliver bilingual (Welsh/English) multi-channel communications plans. This involves building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with colleagues to plan, create, and commission content and assets, and preparing public narratives, press releases, media briefings, case studies, and more. You will ensure data and information are presented in a public-friendly and accessible way. You will develop relationships with key stakeholders and supporters in Wales and work to implement campaigns that engage and inspire them to take action. Additionally, you will provide advice and guidance internally on the Welsh context, culture, language, and your programmes.
For this high-profile role, you must have experience in multi-channel communications and sound knowledge of the media landscape in Wales. Importantly, you will have experience working in a bilingual environment in Wales and be able to converse in Welsh.
You should be effective at developing and delivering communications plans aimed at various groups, comfortable speaking to journalists, and using digital and social media tools to engage, mobilize, and influence key audiences. You should also have a track record of delivering projects or campaigns working with diverse partners and stakeholders.
If you have the experience to raise the profile of our Regenerative Ocean Farming and Pembrokeshire Wholescapes programmes, locally and nationally, we would love to hear from you. Please apply via our website by submitting your up-to-date CV and Supporting Statement to highlight what makes you a good fit for us.
