Priory Infant School is seeking to appoint a committed, skilled, and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dedicated team. This fixed-term position is for 32.5 hours per week (8:15am – 3:45pm, Monday to Friday), working 39 weeks per year (term time plus INSET days), in the first instance for one year. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school and helping our pupils achieve their very best.
About the Role
As an HLTA, you will:
1. Deliver high-quality learning activities, including leading whole-class teaching during teacher absence or PPA cover
2. Provide targeted interventions and support for pupils to raise attainment and progress
3. Create a positive, inclusive learning environment for all pupils, including those with additional needs
4. Promote independence, wellbeing, and engagement in learning
You will work collaboratively with staff and may also contribute to supporting and guiding other support staff.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
5. Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above
6. Has HLTA status or is willing to work towards it
7. Has at least two years’ experience working within a school setting
8. Demonstrates strong knowledge of teaching, learning and assessment, and can work independently as well as part of a team
9. Is passionate about supporting all children to succeed and is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and confidentiality
