Overview

JOB SUMMARY: To ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer and telecommunications networks. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. It also includes analyzing and resolving end user hardware and computer software problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training where required. Responsible for the planning, developing and maintaining programs that implement the policies directed by the CEO.


Qualifications

* Graduation from a technical school in Computer Sciences related field is required.
* Microsoft Network Certification preferred.
* Network security training desired.
* 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area required.
* Extensive knowledge of personal computer networking software applications as well as clear understanding of computer accessing methodologies, communications techniques, and file server environments.
* Must have managerial experience and the ability to lead.
* Must maintain a valid North Dakota driver’s license and maintain insurability with GSHA’s insurance carrier.

Job Responsibilities

* Assures adequate supplies and equipment are maintained and properly inventoried.
* Directs development of specified short and long-range projects which impact the GSHA information system.
* Responsible for the planning and coordination of the network services daily activities with the various vendors contracted with GSHA, the development and/or revision of policies/procedures and standards which have a major impact on the operational efficiency and effectiveness.
* Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
* Responsible for the duties of the HIPAA Security Office (HSO) or ensuring the HSO obtains the need reports and said reports are filed with compliance.
* Responsible for making recommendations required in maintaining acceptable operations based on policies and procedures.
* Plan, develop and implement strategy for computing and infrastructure to meet agreed organizational performance plans within agreed budgets and timescales.
* Monitor, measure and report on computing and infrastructure issues, opportunities and development plans, and achievements within agreed formats and timescales.
* Maintain awareness and knowledge of contemporary information technology.
* Establish the medical practices security program and overseeing its implementation.
* Ensuring compliance with federal and state security regulations and standards.
* Developing and implementing a security infrastructure, training and awareness program for the medical practice’s employees and staff
* Formulates and recommends approval of proposed operating expense and capital budgets with appropriate documentation.
* Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network, component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
* Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
* All other duties as assigned.


Typical Working Conditions

Work is generally done in a well-lit, well ventilated, temperature controlled area. Work may be performed in small quarters and in various areas of the facility. Contact with staff and public. Must be able to handle several projects simultaneously.


Typical Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion in handling and lifting supplies or equipment. Manual and finger dexterity along with eye-hand coordination are required. Requires lifting and carrying up to 75lbs. Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols. Requires vision and hearing to normal range in the communication with staff and with computer or network inspections. Requires working with time requirements and irregular hours. Requires the use of office equipment such as calculators, computers, telephones, and copiers. Must be able to distinguish colors letters and symbols.
