Welcome to our Vascular Specialist Nurse Team! Lancashire Teaching Hospital is a major vascular centre with a hub and spoke arrangement based at Preston, supporting patients in a 1.5 million population area from Barrow, Kendal, Lancaster, Blackpool, Preston/Chorley and Wigan. This role is a Band 3 Vascular Assessment Unit Assistant with a 22.5‑hour weekly commitment (3 days per week). The post supports the vascular nurse specialist team in daily running of nurse‑led clinics and inpatient reviews, combining administrative and clinical duties.

Main duties
* Provide administrative support for nurse‑led vascular clinics, including preparing, organising, and storing patient information on paper and digitally.
* Handle telephone enquiries courteously and efficiently, and manage patient appointments for clinics.
* Review patient records and update trust systems to ensure accuracy.
* Act as the point of contact for day‑to‑day enquiries, referring to more senior staff when required.
* Use local or trust case‑note tracking systems.
* Work under the direct supervision of vascular nurse specialists.
* Undertake clinical duties relevant to the vascular area following competency achievement, including taking patient observations.
* Deliver personalised, high‑quality care in line with local and national standards.
* Support patient safety by adhering to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, and guidelines.
* Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting, and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.
* Maintain a clean and productive care environment, complying with hygiene and cleanliness standards.
* Develop own competence and undertake appropriate training and skills, including any required for band 3 nursing responsibilities.
* Actively resolve local issues and complaints, reporting outcomes to the line manager.
Qualifications & Education
* GCSE Maths & English grade C or above / Grade 4 – 9, or Functional/Key Skills level 2 numeracy and literacy.
* BNCS or NVQ / Internal Level 2 training programme in Health and Social Care.
* Level 3 QCF diploma or NVQ level 3 in healthcare.
Knowledge & Experience
* Previous experience in an acute health care or related setting.
* Understanding of health and safety issues within healthcare.
* Understanding of confidentiality principles.
* Understanding of the role of a band 3 senior HCA.
