Responsibilities
* Establishing a professional rapport with your patients, their relatives and your colleagues.
* Communicating effectively with your patients, their relatives and your colleagues.
* Ensuring privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
* Delivering personal care including assisting patients with their elimination needs.
* Providing support to patients who require enhanced care.
* Assisting patients, where necessary, by the use of appropriate aids/appliance to achieve physical comfort, which may involve the safe moving and handling of patients to varying degrees depending on their condition and care needs.
* Serving meals and drinks to patients, and assisting patients with their nutritional needs.
* Managing bed making, correct disposal of linen and waste.
* Providing information to enable effectiveness of care to be evaluated and accurate records maintained.
* Contributing to patient safety.
* Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high standards of patient care.
* Working within the limits of your own competence and scope of practice, seeking assistance when required.
* Actively providing support and reassurance to patients and their relatives.
* Acting as an advocate for your patients.
* Reporting and escalating any concerns regarding patient care.
* Ensuring safekeeping of patient’s property and valuables within Trust guidelines.
