We have a 12 month opportunity for a Continuity Teams Manager/ Community Midwifery Manager to manage our existing continuity teams and design and develop any future teams. We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking experienced midwife to lead and develop services and people towards excellence in providing midwifery care in the continuity context.
Main Duties of the Job
To provide expert clinical advice in relation to the education, management and leadership of teams of midwives and support staff.
To report on and share learning in relation to the implementation of the continuity of care model, both from a patient experience, care provision and workforce perspective.
To lead in the development, co-ordination, management and evaluation of the continuity of care model.
To line manage and have 24 hour responsibility for designated continuity teams.
To provide support to the community managers and provide cross cover when required.

Managerial responsibilities: to support, direct and have responsibility for activity, staff cover and skill mix in continuity teams to ensure safe and effective service provision.

Quality assurance: to promote an environment of continuous learning and improvement.
Person Specification – Experience
* Significant experience of working as a Registered Midwife in a wide range of settings.
* Experience of facilitating teaching and training.
* Good understanding and experience of quality assurance processes/audit/change management and evaluation.
Person Specification – Desirable
* Experience with people management in relation to appraisal performance, recruitment and selection process.
* Good understanding and experience of implementing, providing and evaluating Continuity of Care workforce model.
Skills – Essential
* Evidence of leadership and influencing skills with the ability to motivate and involve individuals, teams and system partners.
* High level of organisational skills, self-motivation, drive for performance and quality improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
Knowledge – Essential
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
* Understanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff.
* Understanding of what the NHS Constitution means to you, and your responsibilities to the public, patients and colleagues.
Desirable Knowledge
* Knowledge of the improvement agenda within maternity.
Other Requirements – Essential
* Flexibility to work across sites within the organisation.
Qualifications – Essential
* Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
* First Degree or equivalent level of knowledge and experience gained in a relevant environment.
* Teaching Qualification (997/SLIPS or equivalent).
* Evidence of commitment to continuous learning and application in practice.
Desirable Qualifications
* Recognised Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience.
* A Masters level qualification in relevant subject or evidence of equivalent knowledge or working towards qualification.
