Overview
Omega Red Group invites recent electrical engineering graduates to join our team in Nottingham as a Trainee Electrical Design Engineer. The role offers mentorship and hands‑on experience in High Voltage and Power Earthing design within a supportive, growth‑oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the design and analysis of earthing systems using industry‑standard software tools.
* Support the timely completion of design packages, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, safety, and environmental standards.
* Collaborate with external engineering consultants and coordinate work packages that align with in‑house activities.
* Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to ensure compliance and quality assurance of designs.
* Contribute to the delivery of high‑quality design outputs and support the development of least whole‑life cost solutions.
What You’ll Need
* A passion for electrical design and a desire to learn about High Voltage and Power Earthing Engineering.
* A relevant degree in Electrical, Civil, or Process Engineering (BEng/MEng) or equivalent qualifications.
* Good commercial awareness, with strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
* A proactive and positive attitude, demonstrating a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
* A full driving licence is required, with the possibility of occasional travel for site visits.
* Experience with AutoCAD would be considered an additional advantage.
* Programming skills relevant to power system analysis would be highly beneficial.
* The ability to learn and apply complex power system concepts promptly would be an important strength.
