Job Overview
PrepWorld is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Night shift Engineering and Hygiene Manager to lead our hygiene function across night operations. This senior role offers the opportunity to shape a high-performing hygiene culture that drives food safety, equipment reliability, compliance, and operational agility in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
* Lead engineering activities during night shifts to ensure smooth, compliant operations.
* Monitor equipment performance, resolve technical issues, and minimize downtime.
* Ensure machinery and tools meet safety and maintenance standards; oversee permit-to-work compliance.
* Deliver the site hygiene plan, ensuring areas are audit-ready, including low risk and high care zones.
* Own hygiene validation processes, maintain cleaning schedules, and represent hygiene during audits.
* Conduct risk assessments, lead incident investigations, and promote safety culture.
* Lead and develop a multicultural team, fostering ownership and continuous improvement.
* Manage resources to achieve cost-effective engineering and hygiene outcomes.
* Drive innovation in cleaning methods and digital tools; track KPIs and implement improvements.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
* Proven leadership in engineering and hygiene within FMCG, preferably chilled or high-care production.
* Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and food safety legislation.
* Experience with microbiological, chemical, allergen, and foreign body risks.
* Ability to use KPIs, audits, and CI tools to improve performance.
* Problem-solving skills in fast-paced environments.
* Computer literacy, including MS Office.
* HACCP Level 3, Food Safety Level 3, COSHH Assessor, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
* Electrical and Mechanical Qualifications or HNC in Engineering.
Highly Desirable:
* Experience with site expansions, factory layout changes, or major customer onboarding.
* Knowledge of ATP, digital cleaning records, and QMS platforms.
* Experience with validation, verification, and chemical control.
* CI/Lean qualifications and familiarity with UK retail audit protocols.

Working Hours & Salary
40 hours/week, 5 nights (18:00-03:00), with flexibility for days/weekends. Salary: £60,000-£65,000 DOE. Location: Northfleet, Kent.
