Title: Senior Payroll Specialist – UK and Ireland
Salary: £50-60,000 plus bonus and benefits
Location: Reading
Hybrid: 2 days in the office

A long-established organisation with a sizeable workforce is seeking an experienced payroll professional to take on a key post within its UK and Republic of Ireland payroll function. This is a chance to join a steady team that operates at pace, using advanced systems to manage significant payroll volumes across multiple locations.
What the role involves:
Your position will revolve around high quality payroll delivery for both UK and Irish employees. The working day will be varied and touch on several areas, such as:
* Contributing to accurate and timely payroll runs in a large-scale environment.
* Keeping a close eye on deadlines and raising concerns where necessary.
* Ensuring that internal controls, procedures and compliance expectations are upheld.
* Standing in for senior colleagues when required and supporting key sign off duties.
* Taking responsibility for continuous improvements across processes and ways of working.
* Assisting with technical tasks including file uploads and system changes.
* Maintaining awareness of statutory changes, reporting requirements and pension obligations.
* Handling complex cases with due care and professionalism.
* Working closely with colleagues and other teams to achieve shared goals.
* Preparing reconciliations and carrying out related finance checks.
What you will bring:
The organisation is looking for someone already operating at senior specialist level with strong hands-on experience. You will need:
* A background of at least 5 years in payroll, or a blend of payroll and relevant operational experience totalling similar depth.
* Proven capability in large payroll settings, ideally in multi-site operations.
* Solid experience with Irish payroll as this is essential.
* Confidence in handling change, shifting priorities and multiple projects.
* Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
* A detail focused working style, able to perform consistently under pressure.
* Good working knowledge of Excel.
* A steady and reliable approach, ensuring tasks are completed fully with clear communication.
