Perenco UK is a leading operator where we encourage our engineers to innovate and put operations at the heart of our business. We believe in equipping our people with the best skills which is why we've partnered with local training providers to offer a 3 Year Apprenticeship programme to aspiring engineers.
Our 3 Year Apprenticeship Programme will see you develop both technically and personally, with the first year spent at HETA completing some of the following training:
• Health & Safety workshop behaviours
• Hand tools and traditional engineering techniques
• Working with and understanding technical documentation
• Specialist Mechanical training including:
o Mechanical Maintenance
o Actuators, fans, pumps and valves
Once you're equipped with your foundation knowledge, you'll join us on-site where you'll work alongside our teams and start gaining valuable hands-on experience and training to further your understanding and start applying what you've learnt. You'll be assigned a mentor, who will oversee your development and training, offering valuable insights into career paths at Perenco.
Some of your activities on-site might look like the below:
• Complete scheduled trade maintenance activities as per the maintenance management system
• Maintenance to be completed using the company standards and procedures, minimising impact on production, and maximising plant availability
• Raise relevant permits within the agreed time frame and generate new work requests to highlight plant and equipment failure
• Manage and maintain Trade inventory of critical spares and stock equipment such that maintenance visits can be completed on schedule and equipment down time is minimised
• Supporting project activity and working with vendors and sub contractors as required
• Develop and review operational and maintenance procedures
• Comply with and pursue requirements of Change Management Policies eg, Plant Modification Proposals
• Employ Perenco Observation Safety Techniques (POST) to report unsafe acts
At Perenco, we want to empower our people to the best of their abilities, so we also sponsor our apprentices to begin a Level 4 HNC specific to their trade in Year 3 following completion of the Level 3 Extended Diploma.
Initially apprentices will work Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week when they join site.
Once they are competent and have been allocated to a team they will move to shift working which is 7 days on, 7 days off, 12 hour shifts.
Key Requirements:
A genuine desire and passion for engineering is the most important requirement for success on our apprenticeship programmes. However, applicants must also meet the following criteria to be accepted by the College:
• Grade 5 in Maths and English
Due to the location of Perenco assets a driving licence is required or to be worked towards during the initial college phase.
