Role: Management Accountant – INTERNAL ONLY
Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £41,086 and £47,971 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays,People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Management Accountant to join our Finance department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Management Accountant, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Provide Financial Insights – Analyse management data to support Campus Principals and Directors in making informed decisions for curriculum services.
2. Deliver Management Accounting Services – Prepare accurate reports for monthly reviews, senior leadership meetings, and business development initiatives.
3. Support Budgeting & Year-End Processes – Assist with annual budget setting, forecasting, and financial year-end accounts using statistical analysis and trends.
4. Ensure Accuracy & Compliance – Monitor variances, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and communicate financial regulations effectively.
5. Contribute to Strategic Development – Participate in financial strategy implementation, staff training, and assigned projects while upholding safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards.
About you:
6. Finance Qualifications – Part-qualified CIMA (or equivalent) with GCSE English and Maths; strong understanding of financial regulations and ethical practices.
7. Analytical & Technical Expertise – Skilled in Excel for complex data analysis, variance monitoring, and summarising detailed financial information.
8. Management Accounting Experience – Proven ability to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes; experience engaging with budget holders and influencing decisions.
9. Professional & Organisational Skills – Works accurately under pressure, meets tight deadlines, and communicates effectively with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
10. Values-Driven & Flexible – Demonstrates intellectual curiosity, commitment to safeguarding and compliance, and willingness to travel and adapt working hours.
