Operational Communications Officer
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Communications Officer to join a leading public sector body in Lincolnshire on an interim basis. Working closely with senior leadership, and partner organisations, the postholder will play a key role in shaping external and internal communications, ensuring clear, consistent and impactful messaging across a wide audience.
Contract: Interim (initial 3 - 6 months)
Rate: Negotiable
Working arrangement: Fully onsite with travel across Greater Lincolnshire when required
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage proactive and reactive PR activity, including media enquiries, social media, digital content, press briefings and statements.
2. Lead on communications and marketing planning, acting as comms lead for senior-level meetings and briefings.
3. Deliver positive media coverage, manage reputational risks, and evaluate communications activity.
4. Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets, partners and stakeholders to align messaging and showcase developments.
5. Research, draft and produce engaging content including press releases, newsletters, articles and campaign materials.
6. Support and review communications strategies, including project-specific activity.
7. Lead internal communications to strengthen staff engagement and awareness.
8. Contribute creative ideas and solutions to enhance campaigns and marketing initiatives.
9. Represent the organisation at key regional and national events.
10. Analyse communications activity, produce reports and support other duties as required.
Duties
11. Writing and issuing press releases.
12. Using social media platforms, including video content, to raise the organisation’s profile.
13. Providing strategic communications advice and support to senior leadership team.
Essential Experience & Skills
14. Previous experience delivering communications within a complex public sector or political environment
15. Strong media management and press handling background
16. Understanding of reputation management and associated risks
