Sudlows Critical Infrastructure’s has an opportunity to appoint a Junior Estimator to work within our estimation team, working on the design and build of new data centres together with other projects such as plant replacement, data centre / comms room refurbishments, supporting our customers critical business needs. The successful candidate will be offered in house training and support to assist them in their development with career progression opportunities within the critical infrastructure estimating department. Working within our estimation team, the role will offer the candidate an exposure to a wide variety of projects working within our Award-Winning business. The junior estimator will support our estimation team and work closely with the designers with the preparation of the bid including collating various costs for sub-contractors, electrical systems, equipment and professional service fees, before being reviewed and inputted into the estimate The junior estimator will learn about basic construction technology and methods of delivery on and off site, helping them with their development. Personal Specification Ideally the successful candidate should come from an engineering background with knowledge of electrical systems. Education to HNC/HND or degree level in Electrical/Building Services would be an advantage but not a necessity. The successful candidate would need to be able to prioritise workload to ensure deadlines are met without compromise on quality, able to work on own initiative, self-motivated and be a good team player who can communicate with colleagues and management at all levels. You will need to demonstrate a proven track record of successful tenders on data centres, comms rooms or similar projects involving critical infrastructure. Key Tasks and Responsibilities: * Assist senior estimators with quantity take-offs, cost calculations, and tender submissions. * Review of drawings, specifications, and project documents, recording pertinent information for discussion with the team. * Request and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations * Issuing subcontract and material/equipment enquiries for various packages. * Accompany the Sudlows design lead on site visits and collaborate with client’s team. * Accompany the Sudlows design lead on site visits with sub-contractors. * Carry out takes offs from drawings and specifications. * Training will be provided in the use of the estimating software. * Assist with the preparation of the tender documents and estimate. * Attend internal meetings to discuss the tender and estimate. Skills * Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy. * Strong numerical ability and confidence working with figures. * Analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to read and interpret drawings (or willingness to learn). * Good IT skills, especially MS Excel (other estimating tools not essential). * Strong communication skills. * Organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks. * Teamworking ability with a proactive, positive attitude.
