As part of the Global Merchant & Network Services group (GMNS), the Network & Acquirer Solutions (NAS) team is at the core of American Express, uniquely positioned to support every business unit and customer across the Enterprise. How will you make an impact in this role?
This newly created role of Senior Manager, Enterprise Payments Product Operations is an exciting opportunity to contribute to and support critical business operations for Enterprise Payments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in operational resiliency, risk management, and governance activities, with a strong focus on ensuring continuity of critical payment processes, resilient design, and readiness across the enterprise. The role will also contribute to other product operations and risk oversight initiatives such as issue management, new product approvals, and operational readiness—ensuring the delivery of compliant, stable, and well-governed payment solutions.
As this team is in the process of being formed, the successful candidate must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment where priorities and responsibilities may evolve.
The governance team is responsible for a broad range of product operations and risk oversight initiatives, including Operational Risk Events, issue management, audits and exams, new product approval processes, operational resiliency, and other governance-related functions. Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to take on new tasks as the organization grows will be key to success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate operational resiliency activities across Enterprise Payments, ensuring critical payment processes are identified, tested, and able to recover within defined tolerances.
Maintain and enhance resiliency documentation, including self-assessment, scenario testing and analyses, and ongoing performance monitoring and incident management.
Conduct and coordinate resiliency testing to validate end-to-end readiness and identify areas for improvement.
Partner with Product, Technology, Risk, Control Management and Compliance teams to embed resiliency requirements into product lifecycle management and operational processes.
Track, report, and remediate resiliency gaps or weaknesses, ensuring timely action plans and visibility to leadership.
Support enterprise-wide resiliency initiatives, aligning with global standards, regulatory expectations, and internal policy requirements.
Use data and analytics to assess trends, test outcomes, and resiliency performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
Collaborate with the stakeholders to ensure resiliency considerations are fully integrated into operational risk frameworks and product governance routines.
Assist in other product operations or risk oversight initiatives as needed to support broader enterprise priorities.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong understanding of operational resiliency principles and assessment frameworks.
Experience with global non-card payments (ACH, wire, RTP) preferred.
Familiarity with operational risk and resiliency testing methodologies, and data analysis techniques.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.
Proven ability to work autonomously and adapt quickly to shifting priorities and multiple demands.
Strong project management skills for coordinating cross-functional testing and delivery in complex, matrixed environments.
Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships across teams and geographies.
Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for various audiences.
Proficient with power point and excel for basic reporting, tracking and presentations.
Effective time management and prioritization skills.
