Graduate Access and Widening Participation Manager

University Offices, Wellington Square, Oxford

Job Title: Graduate Access and Widening Participation Manager

Contract Type: Fixed term until 31 July 2029

Grade and Salary: Grade 7: £38,674 - £46,913 per annum, including Oxford Weighting of £1,500 per annum (pro rata)

Spanning the historic streets of the “city of dreaming spires,” the University of Oxford has been ranked the world’s leading university for nine consecutive years. A place where centuries of tradition meet world-changing innovation, we offer you the chance to shape the future while working in an inspiring environment that promotes excellence. Here, you’ll contribute to ground-breaking research that tackles global challenges - from advancing sustainability to pioneering healthcare solutions - and join a diverse, inclusive community that champions your wellbeing, development, and aspirations. Apply now to become part of our extraordinary legacy.

We are recruiting four exciting new positions to shape, deliver and embed innovative and sector-leading graduate access and widening participation (WP) strategies and activities in departments and faculties.

What We Offer

1. 38 days of annual leave to support your wellbeing, with the option to purchase up to 10 extra days and additional leave after long service.
2. One of the most generous maternity and adoption leave schemes in UK higher education, offering up to 26 weeks of full-pay leave, followed by additional statutory and unpaid leave options.
3. A commitment to hybrid and flexible working to suit your lifestyle.
4. An excellent contributory pension scheme.
5. Affordable and sustainable commuting options, including a cycle loan scheme, discounted bus travel, and season ticket loans.
6. Access to a vibrant community through our social, cultural, and sports clubs.

About the Role

Each post-holder will have a particular responsibility for one of Oxford’s four academic divisions: Humanities (HUM), Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences (MPLS), Medical Sciences (MSD), or Social Sciences (SSD), and will develop a detailed understanding and knowledge of graduate access and WP at subject level. They will work very closely with their divisional office and departments and/or faculties to help them to identify their local needs, shape strategies, embed graduate access and WP, and support the delivery of initiatives and strategic objectives. If you have a preference for one or more of the divisions, or no preference, please specify this in your application.

About You

The post-holders will need to show great flexibility as this area of work is fast-changing. They will be key players in driving and delivering change (both of processes and mindsets), and will therefore need to show strong interpersonal and communication skills, as well as excellent project management, problem-solving, and analytical skills. This would be an excellent opportunity for individuals who have experience of access, WP, and diversity to drive forward real change for underrepresented and disadvantaged groups in graduate study.
