Job Summary
We are looking for a senior RMN with experience of working in mental health services to join our integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Service at HMP Dovegate, a Category B facility for remand and sentenced adult males. You would be joining a professional and compassionate multi‑disciplinary team committed to recovery‑focused and trauma‑informed approaches to care. The Service is responsible for assessment, planning and the delivery of a range of evidence‑based therapeutic interventions to support mental health and substance use needs for the men under our care. This role is specifically designed to support early screening, assessment and support for men in the early days in custody.
Responsibilities
* Provide evidence‑based interventions and manage a caseload of service users.
* Undertake assessments and reviews using the Care Programme Approach.
* Act as a care coordinator, communicating effectively with all stakeholders up to release.
* Work collaboratively with individuals, carers and other professionals to deliver an effective, integrated mental health and substance misuse service.
* Provide support from initial assessment through to discharge, including transfer of care to hospitals or CMHTs.
* Support rehabilitation and assist users to lead hopeful and fulfilling lives in the community.
* Provide line management of Band 5 staff where appropriate.
* Occasional weekend working may be required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Registered Nurse on the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
* Evidence of recent CPD and compliance with NMC revalidation.
* Teaching or mentoring qualification (e.g., ENB 603) or equivalent relevant experience.
* Considerable experience in mental health settings, including provision of specialist interventions such as CBT, motivational interviewing and counselling techniques.
* Experience of supervising and line‑managing staff.
Salary & Working Pattern
Band 6 – £38,682 to £46,580 per annum. Permanent, full‑time contract.
