Consultant Community Paediatrician – Combined Role (10 PAs)
Job Summary
Provide neurodevelopmental assessment and supportive services for children and young people, including autism spectrum disorder diagnosis, multidisciplinary coordination, and child protection medicals.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct Child Development Assessment Clinics (neurodevelopmental assessment) incorporating face‑to‑face and telephone clinics for new and review cases.
* Assess children under 5 years for diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) following National Guidance.
* Support coordination within the Multidisciplinary Integrated Service at Ham Clinic, Richmond – including joint assessments, MDT reviews, hip surveillance, development of care pathways and transitions.
* Provide medical advice to the Local SEND team according to statutory legislation and guidance for children with special educational needs.
* Perform child protection medicals and attend peer reviews, participating in the joint child protection rota with Kingston Hospital.
* Oversee and manage multidisciplinary team meetings, including planning MDT meetings focused on transitions and early years services.
* Support the development of care pathways and patient passports, ensuring ongoing management of children and young people with complex neuro‑developmental needs such as movement disorders and genetic conditions.
* Lead and enhance safeguarding experience within the child protection rota.
Qualifications & Requirements
Relevant clinical experience in paediatric neuro‑developmental assessment, autism spectrum disorder, and multidisciplinary team coordination. Successful completion of appropriate postgraduate training and registration with relevant professional bodies.
