The Role

We are inviting nursing applicants to join our experienced teams of Diabetes specialist staff based in University Hospital Hairmyres & University Hospital Wishaw, although this post will be based solely in the surrounding community areas. The successful candidate will provide out-patient clinics for people with mainly complex Type 2 Diabetes, and will be working with well-established and highly skilled teams of clinicians who are keen to provide an innovative and self-caring approach to diabetes care. The post-holder will also be part of a wider pan-Lanarkshire multi-disciplinary adult Diabetes service, including specialist dietetic, podiatry and medical staff. There will be extensive in-house training and education provided to support the development of our new member of staff, and we would recommend that they contact the service for more information and a possible visit with our team.

What we'll need you to bring

* Registered Nurse or AHP with valid NMC / HCPC Registration
* Educated to Degree Level
* Post graduate qualification at a minimum of Level 10 (Hons) or working towards
* Expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
* Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
* Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice
* Leadership skills to enable the day to day management of service delivery.
* Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
* The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
* Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective time management skills
* Working knowledge of basic information technology

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.


It would be great if you also have

* Experience working with people with diabetes on a regular basis
* Demonstrable expert practice in diabetes nursing
* Presentation skills
* Competence in use of audio visual equipment


Contract type

* Permanent
* Full time
* 37 hours


Location and Working Pattern

This role will be based in Diabetes Department within South Partnership.

The working pattern for this role -

* Monday to Friday
