Overview
Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship Instructor/Mentor role with the Nuclear Skills Academy, Derby. In this position you will deliver high-quality practical and theoretical learning in Electrical Engineering, support apprentices from their first day through to successful completion, assess and review progress, and work with employers and colleagues to provide a professional, hands-on learning experience across installation, maintenance, fault-finding and testing.

Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver practical, technical vocational and theoretical learning activities for apprentices, including training, learning support and assessment using a variety of methods on and off the job.
* Prepare learning materials to develop apprentices' knowledge, skills and behaviours linked to relevant apprenticeship standards or frameworks.
* Demonstrate tasks and processes to individuals and groups.
* Provide instruction to required standards and give feedback on progress through written and online methods; coach for high expectations of progress and attainment.
* Provide individual and group mentoring to ensure apprentices are matched to employer needs.
* Supervise groups undertaking knowledge and skill acquisition through scheduled off-the-job learning, project work or work placements.
* Assess knowledge and skills using a variety of methods, including individual coaching to accelerate learning.
* Provide specific learning support and maintain learning support records.
* Prepare groups of apprentices for external qualifications and end-point assessment according to apprenticeship requirements.
* Complete associated documentation and track progress, including attendance and achievement data in prescribed systems.
* Ensure assessments meet awarding body standards and College quality assurance requirements.
* Integrate English and Maths development into broader learning activities for on- and off-the-job activities.
* Monitor attendance at off-the-job learning activities and keep employers informed.
* Coach apprentices to behave professionally and maintain high safety standards in the workplace and during off-the-job activities.
* Collaborate with liaison and business development teams to develop new opportunities and increase employer engagement and apprentice uptake.
* Undertake other duties within the general level of responsibility as required.
* Comply with Safeguarding, Prevent, Health and Safety, Quality, Equal Opportunities, Risk Management and Equality and Diversity policies.
* Achieve personal and team targets for recruitment, progress, completion and achievement within designated durations.
* Mentor apprentices and liaise between the apprentice, their employer and the off-the-job training provider.
* Participate in College and University staff development and curriculum management activities as required.
* Comply with the University’s Equality and Diversity Policy and related procedures.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
* Hold or be willing to undertake a Level 5 Teaching Qualification
* Level 2 qualifications (functional skills or GCSE A-C/4-9) in both English and Maths, or willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale
* Relevant Electrical Engineering vocational qualification at Level 3 and Level 4 (or higher)
Experience
* Demonstrable industrial or commercial experience within an engineering trade or business sector
* Experience of working with apprentices, delivering, coaching, and assessing against apprenticeship standards
* Experience of internal and external verification processes
