If so, the VTC in Sittingbourne is currently looking to recruit a Qualified English Teacher to start immediately or in September on a permanent contract. Students within VTC may face various challenges that mean they have not had successful experiences in mainstream schools. They may have damaged or low self-esteem, social and emotional problems, or additional special educational needs. As a result, they may not be working at an age-appropriate educational level.
As a Teacher at VTC, you will work to mentor students and support them to maximize their progress, achievement, and potential. You will have Form Tutor responsibility for KS3/4 pupils and be able to teach English across these phases.
Your work will be challenging and rewarding, and you will be working in a school with a clear ethos, maintaining a strong safeguarding culture, where pupils are listened to, respected, and involved in decisions. Previous experience in an SEN/SEMH environment is desirable, but excellent teaching skills, motivation, personal qualities, and resilience are equally important. SENCo experience is highly valued; your SENCo duties would be advisory, supported by the SENCo administrative assistant.
Educated to Qualified Teacher Status or QTLS, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, and have an innovative, inclusive teaching style, motivated by helping every student reach their potential.
