Job Summary
The Estates department at Westmorland General Hospital, working on behalf of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust properties through the One Lancashire and South Cumbria corporate collaboration, is looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Fitter.
Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical maintenance and installation work within acute and community NHS properties, including heating, ventilation, pressure systems, air conditioning, medical gases and other healthcare related mechanical services.
* Perform fault finding and troubleshooting in mechanical systems.
* Work independently and as part of a team, providing support to other trades as required.
* Adhere to safety and patient/staff safety protocols while delivering high quality workmanship.
* Maintain building services and assist with other tasks to promote smooth operations.
Qualifications
* Experience and qualifications in mechanical fitting, manufacturing, or vehicle maintenance.
* Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience with ventilation and/or air conditioning systems preferred.
* Excellent communication and self‑motivation to work largely unsupervised.
* Flexible working to support the estate team.
