We have a great opportunity for an experienced and well-rounded Chartered/Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office to support our impressive current portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects in the UK and internationally. We need to increase our team to meet growing client needs in the infrastructure sector (defence, rail, highways & water) and in the energy sector (renewable energy, low carbon engineering and nuclear power).

With more than 340 UK-based ground engineering professionals, our geotechnical reputation is built on the skills, excellence and commitment of our people. Locally you would be joining our team of over 35 geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists based in Scotland, working on local projects and engaging with like-minded professionals across our business.
Your purpose:
Responsibilities
* You will be a chartered geotechnical engineer with a proven technical leadership and project management track record.
* The role will include mentoring junior geotechnical engineers; good communication skills are essential.
* We are especially interested in candidates with experience of working in Design and Build environments.
* You should have a degree in civil engineering or geology with a postgraduate qualification in a geotechnical subject and hold chartered status as either a civil engineer or geologist.
* You should have the right flare and ability to develop and expand our infrastructure or energy geotechnics capability by building on our expanding, flexible team across a broad spectrum of sectors.
What you can bring
* A good academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
* Chartered status and proven experience in a fast-moving engineering consultancy environment.
* Project management experience and understanding of client relationships, work planning and commercial management.
* Proven geotechnical design experience and numerical/analytical capabilities for structures, foundations, slopes and anchors using appropriate tools and workflows. Experience with GeoStudio, Repute, Wallap, etc.
* Digital geotechnical engineering capability including the application of AI and machine learning in geotechnical design.
* Application of CDM Regulations in a design and ground investigation environment. Excellent interpersonal and technical skills with the ability to lead geotechnical design teams.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients to support effective work winning and delivery.
* Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful projects to support right-first-time delivery. Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work.
* A willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas. A valid UK driving license.
