Hays are delighted to partner with a Belfast city centre accountancy practice for the role of a bookkeeper. This young and dynamic firm offer clients a range of services, such as Tax, Corporate Finance and Accounts preparation.
Your new role
Responsibilities:
1. Record and process financial transactions for clients, such as sales, purchases, receipts, payments, invoices and bank reconciliation
2. Ensure that transactions are recorded in the correct ledgers and journals, following accounting standards and principles
3. Prepare and file VAT returns, payroll taxes and other statutory returns for clients
4. Assist accountants with preparing year-end accounts, tax returns and other financial reports for clients
5. Maintain and organise accounting files and documents
6. Performing other bookkeeping and administrative tasks as required
What you'll need to succeed
7. Proven experience as a book-keeper or accounting technician in an accountancy practice or similar environment
8. Proficient in using accounting software, such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar
9. Knowledge of accounting principles, standards and practices
10. Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail
11. Excellent numerical and analytical skills
12. Goodmunication and interpersonal skills
13. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
14. AAT qualification or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
