Plant Maintenance Engineer - Ipswich, Suffolk
Our client, a multinational cement company, is seeking a Plant Maintenance Engineer to join their busy operation at Ipswich Docks.

The Role:
Cement arrives at the site by ship, and the operation depends on a wide range of machinery and plant that require regular maintenance and repair, including both small and heavy‑duty forklifts. Full training and development will be provided on all equipment used on site.
The Successful Candidate:
Will have passed a Level 3 Mechanical qualification in BTEC, City & Guilds or NVQ and have Certificates.
Requires a minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical and/or electrical vehicle field.
Good knowledge of hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Comfortable working in an environment that will be dusty/dirty.
A Full UK Driving Licence with minimal points.
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
To undertake mechanical maintenance work, diagnose mechanical defects and perform breakdown repairs.
Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance tasks.
Plan mechanical maintenance work daily in consultation with the Assistant Manager.
Document the completion of maintenance works with the Assistant Manager.
Supervise additional contractors working on site.
To ensure safe working practices are followed and that all safety regulations are complied with.
Details & Benefits:
Hours: The site operates on a 2/7 schedule, with shifts between 5:00am and 7:00pm.
Salary: Circa £40,000-£45,000 per year.
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays, including a three‑day Christmas shutdown.
Overtime: Available, with occasional night work if a ship arrives late.
PPE: All required protective equipment is provided.
