Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Morden
Salary: £41,500 + London weighting
Hours: 6am – 2pm, Monday to Friday
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join a global leader in industrial, medical, and specialist gas solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment and is confident leading day-to-day maintenance activities while overseeing one direct report.
About the Role:
You will be part of a dedicated maintenance team, taking responsibility for the safe, efficient operation of all mechanical equipment on site.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Conducting inspections, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment
2. Carrying out routine maintenance, testing, and new equipment installations
3. Using SAP to manage Planned Maintenance schedules and monitor performance
4. Maintaining safe working practices through the Permit to Work system
5. Allocating and supervising daily work tasks for one team member
6. Coordinating with third-party contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure safe and timely completion of work
7. Keeping accurate records for all maintenance, repairs, safety inspections, and installations
8. Overseeing civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation work within the maintenance scope
What We’re Looking For:
9. Level 4 Apprenticeship or equivalent trade experience in Mechanical Engineering
10. ATEX awareness and ability to work safely in potentially explosive environments
11. Experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or scientific setting
12. Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
13. Effective communicator with team leadership capability
14. Comfortable with MS Office and SAP systems
