JOB TITLE: Concierge
RESPONSIBLE TO: Unit Manager
PURPOSE
At the Talbot Association, we believe that everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to move forward in life. The Concierge role is central to creating this environment within our accommodation services.
As the first point of contact for many residents and visitors, the Concierge helps to provide a welcoming, safe, and supportive atmosphere. By combining practical responsibilities with respect and understanding for individuals, the role contributes directly to Talbot's mission of offering stability, guidance, and hope to people facing difficult circumstances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Safeguard and promote the wellbeing, safety, and dignity of all individuals.
* Communicate effectively and respectfully with residents, colleagues, and visitors.
* Monitor, promote, and maintain health, safety, and security in the working environment.
* Support individuals to access and use services and facilities appropriately.
* Work in a trauma-informed manner that recognises the impact of past experiences on current behaviours.
* Reflect on and develop your practice through training, supervision, and self-awareness.
* Carry out any other duties relevant to the post, as directed by senior staff.
MAIN TASKS
* Ensure the overall security of the unit.
* Hold responsibility for keys and access systems as required.
* Complete scheduled fire safety checks and record outcomes.
* Conduct regular building checks to ensure safety, security, and wellbeing.
* Prevent unauthorised access to the premises.
* Respond to incidents of vandalism, criminal, aggressive, or anti-social behaviour—taking appropriate steps to ensure safety, including involving on-duty staff or emergency services if necessary.
* Identify and report maintenance, repair, or health and safety issues.
* Undertake light domestic tasks to maintain cleanliness and order in communal areas.
* Record and report incidents, concerns, and observations accurately.
* Seek guidance and support from duty staff when appropriate.
* Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in line with Health & Safety policies.

Qualifications
No formal qualification required. Applications are welcomed from individuals with relevant academic, vocational, or life experience.
Experience
Desirable: experience in social care, residential care, hostel, or healthcare settings.
Transferable experience from customer service, security, or community-based roles will also be considered.

Note: This role is not subject to SSSC registration but post-holders are expected to work in line with Talbot Association policies, organisational standards, and the Health and Social Care Standards (Scotland).
