Overview
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is an Executive Agency of Defra and is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of veterinary medicines in the UK. We have a vacancy for a Veterinary Advisor. This exciting and interesting role places you at the heart of the VMD’s Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Team. AMR is one of the biggest threats to global health, and robust evidence is essential to support interventions that reduce AMR’s impact on animal and human health. Surveillance and research are key priorities in the UK AMR National Action Plan (NAP). The VMD leads governmental decision-making for AMR in animals in England and has a dedicated AMR Surveillance & Evidence team to understand, detect, and respond to AMR risks, enabling evidence-based policy decisions. This role will bring additional veterinary and epidemiological expertise to deliver on Defra’s commitments in the UK NAP.
