Therapy Assistant

We are keen to enable our patients to achieve optimum function and independence and quality of life. You will play a key part in this along with your nursing and therapy colleagues. To assist you with this you will receive support and development through in service training, annual appraisals, a personal development plan and regular management and clinical supervision.

You must be self‑motivated, able to demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills and have good communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based on Ogden Court Wymondham. You will work as a member of the therapy team on the ward where you will support the registered Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Your main duties will involve reviewing mobility, transfers, personal activities of daily living and exercise programmes as appropriate. You will be responsible for feeding back details of each patient's progress to other members of the therapy team.

NCHC have electronic patient records and therefore there is an expectation to use a computer on a daily. You will receive support and training to enable you to use this functionality.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will work Wednesday - Friday on a 21-bedded inpatient unit in Wymondham to deliver high standards of rehabilitation alongside their wider team.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* NVQ 2 in health and social care or equivalent experience
* NVQ 3 in care


Experience

* Experience of working with people, in the statutory/voluntary/private sector
* Experience of working with people at the End of life
* Evidence of ongoing learning
* Experience of working in people's homes
* Experience of working with people at the End of life


Skills, Knowledge and Ability

* Knowledge of additional specialist areas through in‑house training & short courses
* Highly motivated
* Knowledge of multi‑disciplinary team roles.
* Experience of working in a community setting


Communication

* Tact & diplomacy
* Empathy & sensitivity
* Ability to use own initiative
* Able to communicate effectively using the English language in both verbal and written forms


People and Personal development

* Ability to manage stressful situations
* A team player
* Awareness of own limitations
* Good organisational skills
* Open to change and development


Personal Atributes/Behaviours

* Able to identify with the Trust's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults

* Professional appearance
* Be able to kneel, bend & stoop, and work in cramped environments.
* Able to manoeuvre limbs of around 5-6kg
* Able to manoeuvre patients using handling aids
* Be reliable
* UK driving license and have access to a vehicle
* Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English Language
