This role plays a vital part in ensuring the continuity, quality, and cost-effectiveness of our supply chain, with a strong focus on supplier management, contract administration, and strategic sourcing. Duties: Management of Procurement Assist with the negotiation, administration, and oversight of supplier contracts to ensure uninterrupted supply and adherence to food safety and quality standards. Develop and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to suppliers, ensuring alignment with both operational needs and regulatory requirements specific to the food industry. Drive cost-saving initiatives by identifying and executing sourcing strategies that support production deadlines. Apply contractual remedies in response to supplier breaches, particularly where issues impact food safety or critical delivery timelines. Support the identification and onboarding of new suppliers, fostering strategic partnerships to strengthen supply chain resilience and encourage innovation in food sourcing. Ensure procurement and sourcing systems are maintained with exceptional data accuracy and traceability, in compliance with industry standards. Serve as a key commercial contact, managing the resolution of supplier-related claims and disputes. Track and manage procurement expenditures, contributing to effective budget control and cost efficiency, with a focus on raw materials, packaging, and ingredients. Incorporate environmental sustainability into procurement decisions, particularly when sourcing ingredients, by evaluating suppliers environmental practices, promoting responsible sourcing, and supporting initiatives that reduce the environmental impact of the supply chain. New Product Development Understand and assist with identification and sourcing of all new ingredients for NPD. Produce a safe, legal, quality product which is what it says it is on time, every time Food safety, integrity, legality, and quality is everyones responsibility. Promote a strong culture in each of these areas. Maintain the necessary systems, procedures, training and working practices to deliver best practice and meet the requirements of the site procedures and customer requirements. Manage food safety, legality, integrity, and quality in conjunction with the technical team. Ensure standards are met for all Customers audits, SEDEX and BRC requirements. Participation in customer audits and visits. Report all food safety, legality, Integrity, and quality near miss to technical team. Participate in all health and safety training and assist in the development and training of safe operating procedures and risk assessments. Implement and monitor adherence to safe operating procedures and risk assessments. Consult HS&E Manager on any identified risks and agree and implement control measures. Other Duties Always adhere to the Ethical Trading Initiative Base code. Quality Participate in audits e.g. BRC, Environmental, SEDEX as required. You must take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do). Complete any other associated task requested by the Management. Factor Skills and Knowledge Essential 2 years of experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally within the food or FMCG industry. Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills Proficiency in procurement systems IT Skills to include Microsoft Office Understanding of food safety standards, supplier audits, and traceability requirements Knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene in workplace Desirable Experience working with perishable goods, packaging materials, or food ingredients Familiarity with international sourcing and supplier development in the food sector ERP platforms Qualifications/Education Essential Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field OR equivalent relevant professional experience Desirable Professional certifications such as CIPS or CPSM Circumstances Working hours may vary dependent on business requirements Genesis Bakery has been crafting high-quality, artisanal baked goods since 1968.
