Job Title

Hygiene Service Manager


Reports to

Head of Technical (CH) & Group Hygiene Lead


Location

Grimsby, DN37 9TU


Purpose

To manage and oversee hygiene services at the Grimsby site, with a primary focus on external hygiene contract management. This includes liaising with third‑party providers like Mitie – Hygiene Service provider, Pest Management, Chemical and Consumable suppliers and Laundry, ensuring service delivery meets NESI standards, and supporting governance activities led by the Head of Technical.


Key Responsibilities

Stock Management & Ordering

* Maintain accurate inventory records for all hygiene‑related chemicals and consumables.
* Conduct regular stock takes to ensure alignment with operational needs and compliance requirements.
* Forecast usage trends and adjust stock levels proactively to avoid shortages or overstocking.
* Coordinate with approved suppliers to ensure timely ordering and delivery of materials.
* Monitor and manage hygiene‑related budgets, ensuring cost‑effective purchasing and usage.
* Ensure all chemicals are stored safely and in accordance with COSHH regulations.
* Manage the pest control contract, ensuring it delivers proactive and value‑adding services.
* Schedule and oversee regular pest control inspections and treatments.
* Ensure all pest control documentation is up‑to‑date and accessible for audits.
* Investigate pest‑related incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed.
* Liaise with pest control providers to review service performance and drive continuous improvement.
* Support managing the contract and service delivery for laundry services (e.g., workwear, hygiene garments).
* Ensure laundry services meet site hygiene standards and operational requirements.
* Monitor service quality and resolve any issues with providers promptly.
* Maintain records of laundry cycles, garment condition, and replacement schedules.
* Work with suppliers to ensure garments are fit for purpose and compliant with food safety standards.
* Oversee waste management services, ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
* Ensure proper segregation, disposal, and documentation of waste streams.
* Liaise with providers to ensure timely collections and service quality.

People Management

* Influence, but not directly manage, factory hygiene operations.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Hygiene Service Provider (Mitie), Technical Managers, QA teams, Engineering and Ops teams.

External Hygiene Contract Management

* Act as the primary liaison with external hygiene service providers.
* Monitor and verify service delivery against agreed KPIs and NESI standards.
* Support regular review meetings with providers and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed.
* Ensure internal audits are scheduled and completed, with results published and followed up.
* Manage service provider standards for pest control, waste services, PPE, hygiene consumables, and laundry services, ensuring value for money and compliance.

Governance & Compliance

* Support governance activities led by the Head of Technical (CH) & Group Hygiene Lead.
* Ensure hygiene documentation, CICs, and risk assessments are maintained and accessible.
* Participate in internal and external audits, representing the hygiene function.
* Provide data and insights to the Technical Compliance Team for customer reports and business plans.

Monitoring & Verification

* Oversee environmental monitoring and ATP swabbing programs.
* Investigate and close out OOS results, ensuring root cause analysis and preventative actions.
* Trend hygiene data and escalated concerns to relevant departments.


Success Metrics

* Effective management of external hygiene contracts and service delivery.
* Timely resolution of hygiene‑related issues and OOS results.
* Accurate and up‑to‑date hygiene documentation and audit schedules.
* Budget adherence for hygiene‑related consumables and services.
* Proactive contribution to governance and audit readiness.


Requirements

* Experience in FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of hygiene management systems.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills.
* Ability to analyse data and drive action plans.
* Organisational and cross‑functional collaboration skills.


Travel

* Unlikely. May be required to attend off‑site Group meetings or the Nesi Chessington or Paignton sites.
