Overview
The ED team at Royal Blackburn is looking to recruit Care Support Workers to join our busy department. We cover the Burnley Urgent Care Centre, Accrington Minor Injuries Unit, the ED and Urgent Care Centre at Blackburn, and operate as a major trauma unit. Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, provide care to the highest attainable standard as an effective member of the clinical team, in accordance with agreed Nursing Practice. Demonstrate professional values, respect, and dignity towards patients and their families, and work within a multi-disciplinary team with a flexible approach.
Responsibilities
* Assist in undressing of patients in preparation for examination procedures, maintaining patient dignity and respect at all times.
* Assist with cleaning/disinfecting of bed/trolleys/lockers in accordance with Infection Control Policies, including bed/trolley making.
* Undertake safe transfer and escort of patients as directed by the Healthcare Professional; ensure safe moving and positioning of patients using mechanical aids and bed appliances.
* Assist patients with all aspects of personal hygiene and with toilet facilities including commodes and toilet utensils.
* Assist in the care of pressure areas and the incontinent patient; respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
* Inform staff immediately of any concerns regarding a patient\'s condition.
* Maintain knowledge of general and specific infection control measures and participate in Major Incident procedures within Trust guidelines.
* Check, clean and ensure equipment is in good working order prior to admission/discharge (e.g., linen, oxygen, suction, resuscitation equipment); replace as required in consultation with senior staff and replace oxygen cylinders on trolleys as needed.
* Maintain day-to-day stock levels (e.g., linen and clinical equipment) and store all supplies; report discrepancies.
* Assist in cleaning of clinical areas and equipment, ensuring hazards are removed and soiled/laundry and contaminated items are disposed of appropriately.

We are seeking self-motivated Support Workers who are committed, flexible and approachable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are expected. You must be able to work a variety of shifts including days, nights and weekends. We value experience and will support the development ofSkills gained elsewhere.
Qualifications
* Essential: Grade D/Grade 3 in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent; minimum 6 months prior experience in a healthcare setting.
* Desirable: NVQ level 2 in care; familiarity with organisational computer systems; evidence of adaptability and willingness to develop knowledge and skills; ability to work within a team.
