About The Role

We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the delivery of the Lived Experience Narratives in Dementia (LEND) Programme. This role will contribute to Work Packages 1–3, supporting inclusive, mixed methods research and stakeholder engagement activities. The post will involve assisting with participant recruitment and data collection (including interviews, surveys, and focus groups), as well as coordinating engagement activities with people living with dementia, carers, and community partners. A key aspect of the role will be supporting communication with diverse groups, ensuring that engagement is accessible, inclusive, and person-centred. You will also support the organisation and delivery of programme events, advisory group meetings, and dissemination activities. The role requires sensitivity, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with individuals who may have complex needs or lived experience of health conditions. Working within an established research team led by Professor Martin Orrell, you will contribute to the day‑to‑day delivery of research and engagement activities, ensuring they are conducted to a high ethical standard and in line with best practice in inclusive research.

About You

You will have a degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. psychology, mental health, or social sciences) and experience supporting research or project delivery. You will demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including individuals with lived experience and community organisations. You should be well organised, able to manage multiple tasks, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. Experience of qualitative and/or quantitative research methods is desirable, as is experience of working or volunteering in health, mental health, neurorehabilitation, or community-based settings. An interest in dementia, neuropsychology, or mental health research would be advantageous, alongside an understanding of the importance of ethical, inclusive, and person-centred approaches to research.

Your working hours will be 36.25 hours per week. This post is offered on a fixed‑term basis, with a possibility of extension to 31/08/2027.

* A friendly, diverse, and supportive working environment
* A hybrid working arrangement with a blended approach of home and office working each week (to be agreed)
