We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Procurement Specialist to join our Procurement Team in Glasgow, Falkirk or Inverness. You will play a vital part in Scottish Canals in both a challenging and varied role. As Procurement Specialist you will be required to work within the Procurement Team team reporting to the Head of Procurement. The role will help ensure Scottish Canals can deliver their services compliant with Procurement Regulations and best practice by adding value to the external spend in the region of £26m per annum.

This is a permanent role working hours 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a hybrid basis (flexible working applications welcomed) and attracts a progressive salary of £35,532 - £38,828 (£36,776 - £40,187 from April Band D) per annum.

Scottish Canals offer a generous annual leave entitlement of 32 days (rising to 34 days after 5 years service) plus 6 public holidays, along with enhanced sick pay, discounted shopping vouchers, and a contributory pension scheme with up to 10% employer contribution.

Primary Responsibilities Of The Role

Manage the tender process, including the development of strategies, ITT documentation, evaluation, contract recommendation and contract handover for a wide range of categories, including but not limited to Operations, Marketing, Destinations and Corporate services.
Ensure compliance with current legislation and internal governance and challenge when necessary
Manage internal and external working relationships, driving early stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement to ensure the organisational operational procurement needs are effectively planned for and achieved
Work with external stakeholders to add value and develop relationships
There may be a requirement to carry out some contract/supplier management.

Qualifications And Knowledge Required

Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply Level 4 or working towards the qualification or relevant experience within public sector procurement.

Skills And Experience Required

Good understanding of Public Procurement legislation and internal policy application
Good levels of written, analytical and verbal communication skills.
Ability to write tender documentation including evaluation and contract management KPI's.
Ability to prioritise work on their own initiative and to communicate any delays to the business.

Team player able to work with colleagues at all levels of the business.
Flexible, positive attitude and setting high standards.
Experience in an administrative role reporting directly to upper management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with office productivity tools and an aptitude for learning new software and systems
Flexible team player, willing to assist with admin duties to support holiday cover and absence, adapt to changes and unafraid of challenges
